Eleanor “Ellie” Mahdinec

February 20, 1936 - October 21, 2021

Eleanor “Ellie” Mahdinec, age 85, passed away on Thursday, October 21st, 2021. Born at City Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio on February 20, 1936, Ellie was the youngest and last living in her generation of the Mahdinec family, She is preceded in death by her parents Martin and Pauline (nee Berna) Mahdinec, siblings Joseph (Ernie) Mahdinec, Pauline (Frank) Ciha, Martin & twin sister Matilda, Milan (Martha), Rudy (Sue), George (Dolores), John (Jule) and Anna Mahdinec. Ellie is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters Victoria “Vickie” Bodner and Valarie “Val” Mahdinec (Beth), as well as her many nieces and nephews, Milan (Barb) Mahdinec and family, Deb (Jim) Lance and family, Pat (George) Petrich and family, Laura (Danny) Makselan and family, Rudy Mahdinec and family and her Godsons Ron (Robert) Mahdinec and Mark Nichols. Ellie graduated from Notre Dame High School and considered joining the convent as a nun, she held a deep belief and love for the Roman Catholic religion and prayed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus who she believed helped through challenging times. After High School Ellie worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell. She then married, became a homemaker and mother of two daughters who were the light of her life. In her last job before retirement Ellie worked as a supervisor at Commercial Traffic. Ellie found great joy in raising her daughters as well as the company of her pets Mikey (her schnauzer), and through the years her cats Misty, Amber, Lexus, Shadow and her gentle, loving and fluffy companion Tanya who brought her joy until the end. Ellie loved to spend time with her family who she loved dearly as well as pray, meditate, listen to music such as Johnny Mathis, Engelbert Humperdinck, Elvis Presley, play online games, cooking, baking and writing poetry. Mass will be held in Ellie’s honor 11:30am on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at Holy Family Church located at 7367 York Road, Parma, Ohio 44130. A prayer service will be held immediately after the Church Service at All Saints Cemetery, 480 W. Highland Road, Northfield, Ohio 44067.
