John C. Johnson, 87, of North Olmsted, Ohio passed away on September 18, 2021 with family by his side. He was born on September 6, 1934 to the late Fred and Elizabeth Johnson. He was a proud 20-year veteran of the US Army, serving as an Army Staff Sergeant and Tank Commander and later became the first person to teach a Women’s Marksman class at The Ohio State university. John was a long-time member of Friends Church. He was an ardent follower and admirer of fellow Christian leader Billy Graham and emulated the same faith-filled generosity and encouragement within his own life. He will be remembered for the friendship he shared golfing with his buddies, enjoying meals out, and working in his yard. He will be missed by many. Cherished and devoted friend and mother of his four children Hilde (Gerald) Martin; loving father of Carole Johnson, Belinda (Rick) Nunez, Sandra (Andrew) Ebert, Katherine (Oliver Sr.) Reyes; cherished grandfather of Alexandra, Chelsea (Dillon), Nicole, Oliver Jr., Nicholas, Olivia, Aaron, Aremis, Anna Maria (Jake), and Noah; treasured-great-grandfather of Caleb and Selena; dear uncle of Patricia, Wanda, Diana, Darlene, and Debbie. He is preceded in death by his siblings Howard, Clarence (Iva), Delia (David), Pauline; niece Peggy; and devoted son-in-law John P. Dempsey. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the West Wood Abbey, Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
