Lois Kilbane
October 15, 1930 - February 28, 2021
Lois Evelyn Kilbane, was born October 15, 1930 and passed away February 28, 2021. She was the wife of the late Bernie, mother of Neal (Nancy), Claire Johnston, John (Rhonda), Anne Lang (John), Patricia Miller (the late Michael Miller), Daniel, and the late Jimmy and Thomas; daughter of the late Theodore and Evelyn (nee Weitzel); sister of the late Donald and Theodore, Jr. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Grandma Honey.” She was sweet, kind, and caring. Thoughtful, gracious, gentle. Always ready with treats and hugs and a listening ear. She was never too busy for them. They are: James (Brenda), Michael Johnston, Ellen Charvat (nee Johnston) (Andrew), Sean & Katie Kilbane, Patrick, Kevin & Eileen Lang and the late Maura Lang, Heather Sechler (nee Miller) (Aaron), Ashley, Emily & Jack Miller, and Bryen Kilbane; great-grandmother of Grace & Noah Kilbane, Anthony, Nicolas & Ava Sechler, and Nolan Charvat. She was also a loving aunt and devoted, considerate, warm-hearted friend. Lois and Bernie were married in 1952 after meeting at Jefferson Park on the west side of Cleveland. They raised their family in North Olmsted and later moved to Rocky River. Lois lived the last 10 years at Emerald Village Senior Living. She was a founding member of both St. Richard and St. Brendan parishes. Many have said about Lois, “She is the strongest person I know.” This strength was one of inner peace. The strength of her character, the strength of her faith, and the strength of her convictions were determined, dedicated and devoted. She faced many losses in her life, faced physical challenges, and faced tough decisions. She handled everything with grace, confidence and dignity. Most of all, she was our Mom. She loved us. She protected us. She taught us how to be kind and generous and compassionate. She was helpful but never looked for recognition. She would only comment on our decisions if asked and never criticized our choices. She was beautiful inside and out. She showed us how important it was to be tolerant and to love others as much as ourselves.
