Tom was my Double First Cousin and nephew. His mother Mildred and my mother Eunice were sisters and his father Sam and my father Albert were brothers. Then when his mom died, his dad married my half sister Jean so Tom then also became my nephew.
Tom and I were a year and a half apart and together for all holidays since we were related on both sides. We were best friends as kids and continued to be as adults til life moved us in different directions. I especially loved when Tom shared his favorite music with me as kids. I remember Porgy and Bess where he loved to act out the part of Porgy to my Bess. He would get on his knees singing, “Bess you is my woman now. You is, You is my woman now.” made me laugh and laugh. He loved to make me laugh. He had a wonderful sence of humor his whole life long.
I may have been his biggest fan. I adored his playing the piano. He loved my adoration. Anytime he introduced me to someone new he would just say “piano” and I would splurt out excitedly what a wonderful piano player he was. He would have to stop me from going on and on. We had a very special, very close friendship which I will always treasure, always remember. I do believe his joyful energy will be with me always. I love you Tom.
