William J. Sowik
October 14, 1947 - December 22, 2021
William J. Sowik, 74, of Lakewood, Ohio passed away on December 22, 2021. He was born on October 14, 1947 in Stuttgart, Germany. William was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He completed four and a half years of service, including two tours in Vietnam. His service to his country continued through the Army National Guard from 1978 until 2005. He was a faithful employee with AT&T for over 40 years. Bill will be fondly remembered as a generous and faithful family man, creating many wonderful memories. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and collecting the vegetables with his grandkids to make delicious meals. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada with his buddies, but found greater joy in the presence of his friends rather than actually catching the fish. Above all, he loved his family and lived for creating the best life for his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him best. William is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Janice Sowik; cherished daughters Dawn Smith (Ed) and Melanie (Tom) McKinley; treasured grandchildren T.J. and Brendan Smith, Samantha (Bobby) Stephan, Zach, and Nate McKinley; cherished great-grandchildren Aaliyah and Jameson; brother of Mary Lynch; and childhood friend Ray Gardner who was like a brother. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM-2:30 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
