I loved this woman as a second mother, a teacher, my mentor. She was the kindest and most loving person who I have ever known, always treating me so special and always having my back and best interest in mind. It was Beverle who brought me and my wife, Amy Joyce Heffner, together, seeing in us what we could not see at the time in each other. We would not be here together 40 years later if it wasn't for her. I was so sadden when I heard about her passing, it hit Amy and I like a ton of bricks. I never got to say my goodbyes, so it is overdue. May she rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord.

I knew Beverle from the Great Northern Applebee's way back in the 90's. John and Beverle were our regular guests who visited frequently. Beverle was always so kind and loved to share news of the productions she was working on in the theatre. Always elegantly dressed and so gracious. Thank you, Valerie for sharing the news of her passing and inviting the Applebee's team to celebrate her life. I am now located in NJ so unable to attend, but it was so heartwarming to hear that Beverle and John thought of us as their second home. I have so many fond memories of meals they shared with us over the years and we too thought of them as family. I'm sending warm wishes of peace and comfort to you.

I am sad to learn of the passing of Beverle. I've known her first as a teen on Middle Bass island, to working backstage in several performances at the Dover Playhouse. What a warm and welcoming lady who loved the arts, people and life. She will be missed by many.

What I remember most about Mumzy is the dollhouses we would make when I was a child. I remember acting in the plays she was in and Todd directed at the Old Town Hall; even helping her paint some of the signs for the plays. I will always cherish that she encouraged those around her to cultivate their passions.

She was more than a grandmother to me. She was a friend, a confidant. She had a way of making you feel like you were in on a secret even if everyone around you already knew it. She was always smiling it seemed.

When she would tuck me in bed at night during the summers I spent there she’d recite a prayer that always made me feel like nothing bad could happen. It’s one I’ve repeated with Leo a few times. The prayer was:

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
And if I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take.

Beverle was an amazing woman and person! I had the honor of working with her at Frostville Museum's Haunted House many years ago! After the haunted house, she held a party at her home for everyone! The house was filled with lots of people who were all laughing and having a great time! She took my daughter and I to see all of her wonderful puppets! That was one night I have never forgotten!!! She brought so much joy to so many people!!!!
