Raymond J. Hummel, 88, of Brook Park, went Home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2021. Ray peacefully left this world knowing he was loved and cherished by so many. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Cecilia Hummel Read Obituary
To the Hummel family, I'm so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Ray was my boss at Philpott Rubber in the late 1990's. He also made my flowers and vale for my wedding in 1991. He was such a good, kind and funny man. Prayers to all.

I got to know Ray when I joined the Philpott team in April of 1992. He immediately made me feel welcomed and became a valued mentor for many years.
He and I had a special bond around baseball. We often would play catch in the parking lot during our lunch break. He also invited me to play on his Brookpark softball team for several years. It was a blast and I was always amazed at how well he could play even being 30 years older than most of his competitors.
He was a kind and loving man. I consider myself blessed to have known him.

I remember Mr.Hummel with many fond memories, mostly dating back in the late 60’s as my baseball coach in Brook Park. I also remember playing softball in the 80’s against his teams .
He was such a kind man who knew a great deal about baseball; teaching us kids how to play the game as well as how to approach life. He was masterful in sharing his ideals and thoughts through baseball. I learned a lot from him and was very fortunate to call him coach!

Ray we will miss you. He was a man of Christ who loved the Lord. His eyes would shine when he spoke about Christ. He shared his journey with the Lord with many. His goal was to lead people to Christ in his remaining time on this earth. Good job my faithful servant. Knowing you are with the Lord makes me smile, although your presence here on earth will be missed by many. And I can’t end without mentioning that you were a faithful husband to your wife everything day, putting her needs above all else, loving her and taking care of her to your last day. Such an example of a good Godly marriage. When you brought Velma along to the Discovering Christ group she would just look at you when you would talk about the Lord with a sparkle in her eyes, and you knew without her saying that she loved you and was so proud of you. We love ❤️ you Ray. Enjoy your eternity in the house of the Lord. We will see you again. Goodbye for now with tears.
He took me on a trip when they opened the St Lawrence Seaway. Went roller skating at Puritas Park.
Helped me learn how to play baseball. He kept in contact with me throughout my 31 years in the Navy. He was a true friend and I’ll miss him. RIP
