Raymond J. Hummel's Obituary
Raymond J. Hummel, 88, of Brook Park, went Home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2021. Ray peacefully left this world knowing he was loved and cherished by so many.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Cecilia Hummel; siblings Charles, Bobby, and Ronald (Shirley) Hummel.
Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alma Hummel; children Janet (David) Weinmann, Traci (Sheila Fansler) Hummel, and Suzanne (Jay) Hays; grandchildren Justin (Amy) Weinmann, Samantha (Phil) Kyker; Sabrina (Andrew) Jochum, and Ryan Kuchenmeister; great-grandchildren Haley, Riley, Luke, Lily, Parker, and Logan; sister-in-law Angeline (late Jim) Kochy; and other loving family and friends.
Ray was drafted in the United States Army, served in the Korean War, and achieved the rank of Corporal before entering the Army Reserves. Ray had a 54-year career with Philpott Rubber Company and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very involved with his church as a lector, the Eucharistic Ministry, RCIA and Discovering Christ Series Mentor. He was a lover of sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. Ray coached several sports for both adult and youth leagues over the years including football and softball in Brook Park. He liked fishing on his boat and playing music on the keyboard. Ray will live on in memory fondly. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Sunset Chapel located at 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted 44070 from 3pm until 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 10am at Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish located at 6455 Engle Rd, Cleveland 44142. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
