WOW, how sorry I am that i didn't act a 'week sooner'.
As a class mate of Jim, Bay 1957, all who could, would meet at least once a year to kibbutz, enjoy a glass of wine and just laugh.
My recent timeline with Jim began with a 'butt-dial' on my part. Memo to myself.(Got to stop putting my phone in my back pocket)!
He was still in Fla.(last part of July) and we spoke for at least 30 minutes.
He asked me how many of our class was still alive. A question I was not expecting. Little did I know of his cancer predicament.
My 'week sooner' comment up above had to do with extending an invite for Jim and Dick Wright to stop over to our back patio. My wife and I have been having 2 folk at a time meet and sit outside, have wine and whine! A play on words!
I reached out via text on August 14 to plan on the following Friday. Dick called me to share the sad news of Jim.
His recent texts were uplifting and he made it plain and clear that our friendship was valued. His last comment touched my heart. His words being "thanks Mike i really appreciate you as a friend and confidant!!!".
Had Diane and I acted sooner, we would have had the pleasure of his company one last time.
