Alyce Piskura's Obituary
Mrs. Alyce Piskura (née Weber) passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 21, 1934, in Erie PA to Ruth McCulloch Weber and Raymond G. Weber, Alyce spent her early years in Erie and attended Academy High. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mercyhurst University in 1956. Shortly after graduating, she relocated to Cleveland to begin her career in commercial art at American Greetings, where she worked in the Highbrow Division, writing and illustrating hundreds of offbeat and humorous greeting cards. Beyond her commercial work, Alyce was a talented fine artist who worked in pastels and oil paint.
In Cleveland, she met the love of her life, John Piskura, and the two were married on May 15, 1965. They resided for many years at West 102nd Street on Cleveland’s west side, where they enjoyed extensive overseas travel and shared creative endeavors. Alyce occasionally worked in the floral department at Higbees, freelanced her designs, and later launched her own business, Wild Flowers, through which she designed and sold intricate silk flower wreaths and arrangements. Together, she and John participated in craft fairs, sharing her artistry with others.
In 1994, the couple built a home and settled in Medina, where they became active members of the community and formed many lasting friendships. John preceded Alyce in death in December 2020. Her only sibling, Ann Weber Cullen, passed away in 2015. Alyce is survived by her nieces, Suzanne (Cullen) Allen and Kathleen Cullen, nephews John Cullen, Steve Hampton and David Hampton, as well as her cousins Linda Gersdorf and Marianne Maratta of Bay Village, and Joseph Zipay of Canada.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 2 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070, where family and friends will gather at the cemetery gate at 1:45 PM to line up in procession.
