Anita S. Auzenbergs' Obituary
Anita S. Auzenbergs, 77 years old, passed away on January 6, 2021 at her home with her family in Avon, Ohio.
Anita was born in Riga, Latvia on March 27, 1943, fled the wartime dangers with her family during World War II and relocated to Philadelphia during part of her childhood before her family permanently settled in the Cleveland area during her teenage years. A graduate of West Tech High School, Anita attended the Cleveland Institute of Music and devoted most of her life to her passion… teaching piano from her home. She loved being a mother to her two children and spending time with her family.
Anita’s strong Christian faith sustained her, and she lovingly shared her faith with family and friends. She appreciated the opportunity to teach Sunday School at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lakewood and is now thankful to be home with the Lord.
She appreciated the blessing of being home with her children as they grew up in North Olmsted. She was very active in her kids’ lives, attending swim meets and cross country meets and being ever present to listen to her children’s questions and stories. She cherished time with close family friends from Latvia during summer vacations spent at Crane Lake in Ontario, Canada. Anita was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Aivars, for over 56 years.
Piano and Classical Music truly filled Anita with joy. Over the course of 55 years, she taught hundreds of students at her living room piano. While it was her profession, the lifelong meaningful relationships she developed with her students were most important to her. She was a source of encouragement as she mentored her students in music theory, piano technique, and positive mindset affirmations. She also invested time and energy into fundraising and supporting Cleveland area piano competitions, and loved attending concerts at Severance Hall.
Anita was a smiling, positive, outgoing person throughout her 77-year earthly journey.
Surviving her are her husband, Aivars, one daughter, Lisa Payerchin and son-in-law Rick of Avon and one son, Ed Auzenbergs and daughter-in-law Susan of Portland, Maine; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Nathaniel Auzenbergs.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Edvins and Silvija Stelmanis. Her passing was not COVID-related.
A celebration of Anita’s life will be held for family and friends at Providence Church, 35295 Detroit Road in Avon, Ohio at 11:00 on Saturday, January 9th.
