Anna Deak's Obituary
Anna Deak (nee Radic), 95, of Westlake, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 16, 2015.
Beloved wife of the late George; dear mother of Teresa Panic (deceased), Peter Paul (Mary) Deak and S. Allen (Deborah) Deak; cherished grandmother of Alex (Micki) Panic, Peter Deak Jr. (Shanna Rose), Rosemary Deak, Oliver Deak, and Boshy Deak; great-grandmother of Braddon (Shanna) Deak, Ashton Deak, and Nicholas and Leah Panic; great-great-grandmother of Braddon Joseph Deak, Jr.; loving sister of the late Ilonka Molnar and Peter Radic; mother-in-law of Auguszta Deak.
Anna immigrated to the United States in May, 1965 from Yugoslavia, with her family, and settled in Lakewood, Ohio. She was a woman of enduring faith and spirituality. Devoted to her family and friends, she loved animals and leaves behind her furry feline “Fritz” and former dog “Baba.” She was employed at Joseph & Fiess, had her own Hungarian restaurant in Cleveland, and worked as a cook for Lakewood Hospital and Old Austria in Rocky River. Anna loved to cook and bake. Some of her favorites were stuffed cabbage, dobos torte, cookies, strudel, lechvar kolache, nut roll and polichenka. Her family enjoyed her European cuisine, especially her chicken soup. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her son, Paul, to the western United States and Florida. She enjoyed the warmer climates, and entertained several trips to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama. Anna loved flowers and always had a beautiful flower garden as a result of her hard work and “green thumbs.” Her front yard was engulfed with pink, purple and white petunias, which were the talk of the neighborhood. Mama Anna had a warm smile for everyone, and a gentle, loving heart. People loved her. Thank you for being our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and friend.
