Barbara Diane Ennis' Obituary
Barbara Diane Ennis, a cherished member of the Meadville community and a beacon of resilience and friendship, was called home on August 2, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on June 24, 1949, into a loving family, Barbara’s early years were spent in the scenic surroundings of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. A proud graduate of Conneaut Lake High School, Class of 1967, Barbara’s spirit and determination were evident from a young age.
In 1969, Barbara joined hands in marriage with Howard Ennis. Their journey together took them to Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 1975, where they laid down roots and built a life filled with love and mutual respect. Though their paths eventually diverged, their bond remained unbroken, a testament to their enduring friendship.
Barbara’s professional life was marked by her unwavering work ethic and the deep connections she forged with colleagues. From her early days at RD Werner in Greenville to her dedicated service at Meadville Area Credit Union, and her eventual retirement from Starlite Diversified in 2019, Barbara’s career was a reflection of her commitment to excellence and community.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and kinship, survived by her sister, Susan (James) Hauser (nee Bristol); brother-in-law, Larry (Gail) Ennis; beloved nieces and nephews, Bristol (Todd) Canaday, Dori Hauser, Carl Hauser, Sheree (Mark) Workman, Cristy (Scott) Anderson, and Tyler (Julie) Ennis; and her adored great-niece, Annabelle, and great-nephews, Tristan, Lucas, and Maveric.
Barbara’s life was enriched by her close-knit circle of high school friends and her supportive work colleagues, who became an extended family. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
In honor of Barbara’s memory and her courageous fight, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute in Meadville, PA, or to a cancer-related cause dear to your heart.
Barbara’s journey through life was marked by courage, love, and an unwavering spirit. As we bid farewell, we celebrate the unforgettable mark she left on our hearts and the community she so dearly loved. Rest in peace, dear Barbara. Your light will continue to shine in the memories we hold.
A private service will be held.
