Barbara Jean Kolodey's Obituary
Barbara Jean (Mehalko) Kolodey, age 93, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in the presence of her daughter who was her caregiver. Barbara was born on November 5, 1932, to the late Joseph and Bertha Mehalko.
She was the beloved mother of Carolyn Kolodey, Bill (Cathleen) Kolodey, and John (Ania) Kolodey. Her devotion to her children was unwavering, and she took great pride in watching them build families of their own. Barbara’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brad Kopczyk, Brieana (Chris) Morris, Evan (Taylor) Kolodey, Daniel Kolodey, and Matthew Kolodey; and her great-grandchildren: Tryston, Trynity, Lukus, and Justin, who brought her endless joy in her later years. She is survived by her loving sister, Nancy Remer, and was preceded in death by her two siblings, Eleanor Holroyd and Joan Frederick, who now welcome her into eternal rest.
Barbara was a founding member of the St. Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church in Fairview Park, Ohio. She retired from Harshaw Chemical, Elyria, Ohio. Barbara enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, working in her yard and flowerbeds, and spending time with her children.
A private ceremony will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve in Barbara’s honor.
