Barbara Alice Scalzitti's Obituary
Barbara Alice Scalzitti, age 74, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after courageously battling many long-term health conditions. Barbara was born on September 13, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Edward Glenn and Geneva (née Hopkins) Glenn.
Barbara was the devoted mother of Landa (Michael) Strunk and Brenda (Eric) Warnke, who were the greatest joys of her life. She cherished her grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Ashley, and Clayton and they adored her in return. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth (Cindy) Glenn and Tommy Glenn.
Barbara had a heart that seemed big enough for the whole world. She was a faithful believer in Christ and loved her family, friends and even strangers she had just met. Known for bringing joy and a smile to every person she encountered, she embraced others with warmth, kindness, and an open heart. She was passionate about sharing her relationship with Jesus and helping others find their faith. She also loved to sing and dance, and she lived her life with a lightness that inspired those around her.
For many years, Barbara worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. After retiring, her compassionate nature led her to continue serving others as a caregiver with Visiting Angels—a role that perfectly reflected who she was. She cared deeply, loved deeply, and lived her faith through her actions. In time, when she faced her own illnesses, she was surrounded by the same care and love she had given so freely.
Barbara will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. Her life led by faith, laughter, and unconditional love will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
Burial will follow immediately after the service on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Susan G. Komen nonprofit breast cancer organization at https://komen.org in honor of her daughter, Landa’s journey with breast cancer.
