Carl Bruce Gehrman's Obituary
Carl Bruce Gehrman, age 83, passed away on February 24, 2025. He was born on April 11, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Carl and Nellie Gehrman.
In July of 1963, Carl married his beloved wife, Ruth Gehrman, and they built a beautiful life together. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Lois) Gehrman, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, William Gehrman.
Carl was an active and devoted member of the Abram Creek Baptist Church and its predecessor Madison Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years, as well as a proud graduate of Lutheran High School West. He worked for the former Deaconess Hospital, Revco Drug stores, and Babies ‘R Us. He was also a regular sight for many years at baseball and hockey games at the old Municipal Stadium and Cleveland Arena, where he worked as a vendor to supplement his income. Carl was a great fan of local sports teams, particularly the Cleveland Guardians.
People who met Carl didn’t forget him. He had an encyclopedic memory. He cared for every generation of his relatives. He welcomed everyone. He was reliable, determined, curious, affectionate, and faithful.
Visitation will be held at Abram Creek Baptist Church, 18664 Sheldon Road, Brook Park, Ohio 44142 on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow.
Carl will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s honor to Abram Creek Baptist Church or to the Cleveland Guardians Charities, in support of youth baseball and softball.
