Carol Irene Waters' Obituary
Carol Irene Waters, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 29, 1940, to the late Ray and Mary Althea (Walker) Willson. Family matriarch and beloved mother of James (Karen), Thomas (Rhonda), and Michael (Janine) Waters. Grandmother of Katharine, Emily, Benjamin, Alexander, Meghan, Hannah, and Caroline Waters. Beloved sister to Miriam (Willson) Grubaugh, Susan (Willson) Burton, and aunt to many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her dear sister Mary Charlotte (Willson) Harrison.
Carol was a graduate of Lakewood High School. After graduation she worked at Hannah Mining Company in Cleveland, Ohio while also helping to care for her two younger orphaned sisters as well as her nephews and niece. In 1963 Carol married and left the workforce to start a family and raised her three sons. Carol returned to work in 1986 where she remained in the corporate workplace until her retirement in 2002.
Carol had a quick and clever wit, a kind heart and endeared herself to all she met. She had a fiercely independent spirit, and gracefully and courageously battled Parkinson’s disease for over 20 years without complaint or lament. She was adored by her family, especially her seven grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as “G-Mama” and their “Queen”. Carol loved spending time with her family, enjoyed listening to stories about their lives and offering insightful tidbits of wisdom. She particularly cherished her adventures and moments with her sisters, their bond was truly remarkable.
Carol's memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where her service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
