Charles L.T. Benzon
August 14,1931-December 2,2021 (age90)
While heaven has gained such a great man,
he will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
Born in Berea, Ohio he traveled much of the globe. His early life began in Bolivia, South America, followed by military service in the Navy during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, Charles was employed by the FAA with the strategy to make air traffic control safer. He also performed other jobs at the Oberlin Air Traffic Control Center.
He served on numerous boards and volunteered in a variety of organizations. He was a commander of the American Legion and was in charge of the Oratorical Scholarship contests in Ohio for high school students. In addition, his volunteer work included; work with the Veterans, Cleveland Zoo, Cleveland Hopkins Airport, and the USO golf charities.
The work he did was world class and the more challenging the better. He was a man who lived a life of giving to others. He loved greatly and was greatly loved.
Charles passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021. Charles leaves to cherish his memory; loving wife, Lenore Benzon; loving father of Peggy Sloan (John), Mike Benzon (Penny), Julie Breckel (Jim), Bruce Neubauer (Betsy) and Ron Neubauer; loving grandfather of eight, and great grandfather of eight. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Benzon, his brother George, and son Stephen Patrick.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Southwest Hospice for their exceptional care and to all of those who have kept Charles and his family in their prayers.

Visitation/viewing will be held at Sunset Funeral Services at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 4-7 p.m. A celebration of life funeral ceremony with military honors will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Westwood Mausoleum Chapel at 10am.
