Charles A. Raquet's Obituary
Charles A. Raquet, 79, of North Olmsted, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020. He was born in Cleveland to Paul and Marie (nee Wenzlaff) Raquet on April 3, 1941.
Chuck was a faithful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved to encourage his wife, children, and grandchildren in whatever they were pursuing. He composed and arranged music, including unique compositions for each of his grandchildren. He was also a beloved neighbor to many, using his servant heart to meet the practical needs of others. Chuck was an avid gardener, book reader, and supporter of the arts. He was also a creative woodworker and inventor of gadgets.
He was a parishioner of the Messiah Lutheran Church for 39 years. He served in many leadership roles within the church, led numerous Bible studies, and was very active in his faith.
Chuck earned a PhD in Physics from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon), and was employed as a NASA engineer for over three decades before retiring. He served on numerous boards, including Lutheran West High School, Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve, Linking Employment Abilities and Potential (LEAP), and Lutheran House at Chautauqua.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife Sharon; son John (Cynthia) Raquet; daughter Catherine (Tad) Long; brothers Peter (Bonnie) Raquet and James (Patricia) Raquet; adoring grandchildren Johanna (Zachary) Demers, Nathaniel (Maggie) Raquet, Eleanor Raquet, Carolyn (Noah) Shinabarger, Rosemary Raquet, Hendrick Raquet, Fredrick Raquet, Christian Raquet, Abigail (Khalil) Karl, Victoria (Nicholas) Ragsdale, and Olivia Long; one niece; and two nephews.
A private committal ceremony will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
