Charles Nelson Roberts' Obituary
Charles N. Roberts, 82, passed peacefully on July 7th, 2022, at Bon Secours Community Hospice House in Richmond, Virginia. “Rusty,” as he was nicknamed because of his auburn hair, was born 07/20/1939 in Pike, Kentucky, the son of James and Mollie Roberts.
Rusty graduated from Logan High School in Logan WV in 1957. Following graduation, he married Thelma Ruth Roberts on June 20th, 1958, in Mt. Gay, WV, later settling in Cleveland, OH, where he worked as an electrician for LTV Steel with USW Local 188 for nearly 30 years.
In his life, Rusty served as a Scout leader, youth sports coach, and was a devoted member of Grace Church in North Olmsted, OH. He was an enthusiastic bowler, who also deeply appreciated nature as a fisherman, an avid gardener and landscaper. Rusty also enjoyed public ballroom dancing using skills learned as a member of Ed & Mitzi Waring’s Dance Company. Perhaps most importantly, Rusty appreciated a good joke, and was well-known for his sense of humor.
Rusty is survived by his brother, James Roberts, his son, Charles G. Roberts, daughter Sherry Paulchell (m. Joseph Paulchell), and son David Roberts. Rusty was also blessed with five grandchildren: Kaitlyn Paulchell, Nicolaus Paulchell, Kelly Paulchell, Justin Roberts and Evan Roberts.
