Christine “Chris” Lydia Galayda, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 13, 2025. Born on July 14, 1950, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Hayko.
Chris dedicated many years of hard work to Bay Corp, where she worked on the assembly line until her retirement. She was known for her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Galayda for 50 wonderful years. Chris was a devoted mother to Catherine (partner, Steven) and Deborah (partner, Dean), and a caring sister to Joanne Mociolek and Patricia Detrick.
A faithful member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Parish and St. Clarence Church, she attended alongside her husband. She had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed curling up with a good mystery novel. Her happiest moments were spent with family celebrating holidays, sharing stories, and camping.
A visitation will take place October 24 from 12:00 pm until the service at 2:00 pm at Sunset Legacy Funeral Home, 6265 Columbia Road, N. Olmsted 44070.
