Clarence "Ted" Ferrell's Obituary
Clarence H. “Ted” Ferrell, 88, of Rocky River, formerly of Cleveland, passed away May 11, 2018.
He was born in Lenore, West Virginia, the son of the late William and Sophronia (Dempsey) Ferrell. He grew up on the family farm and later entered the Air Force where he was honorably discharged following 4 years of service. He married Janice Brooks in 1955 and in 1964 they moved to Cleveland where he was employed with Airco Welding Products until 1986. One to remain active, he didn’t fully retire until the age of 80 working various jobs. He was employed with Gospel Workers Society in maintenance and with Coaxial Dynamics. Music and religion were important to him. He was gifted and learned to play by ear, playing the organ, accordion, piano and harmonica. He was a member of the Galilean Baptist Church and played the piano for their services. A roller coaster enthusiast, he rode the Top Steel Dragster at the age of 76 at Cedar Point. Clarence was the loving father of Debra (Terrence) O’Meara, Pamela (John) Bromley, Donna Waight, Gary Ferrell, Lisa (Richard) Kurak, Sherri Ferrell, Amy Ferrell and Tracy McQuistion; cherished grandfather of Katherine (William) Gerken, Meagan O’Meara, Jason Waight, Jennifer (Casey) Zaremba, Jessica Rahner, Rachel and Ruth Kurak, Michael and Rebecca Ferrell and Symphony Janice McQuistion; adored uncle of many. He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM in the Sunset Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, where funeral services will commence on Wednesday at 10AM. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
