Clifford Crabs' Obituary
Clifford C. Crabs was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 25, 1928. His family moved to Union City, PA and he graduated from high school there in 1946. Because the servicemen returning from WWII filled the colleges, Cliff waited 2 years, working as a draughtsman for an engineering company in Cory, PA.
He started at Case Institute of Technology in 1949 and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then a Master’s degree in 1957 on a project for Kuara & Associates.
Cliff flew for NASA as an engineering test pilot. After the moon shoot, he took early retirement which lasted 5 days when Parker Hannifin called, and he was employed by them until he was 80 years old!
Cliff’s father did harness racing as a hobby and Cliff inherited the racing stable when his father died. He found a farm in North Olmsted with a ¼ mile track and lived there until moving to the Normandy.
In 1974, he married Alice Hale Crabs. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years and 2 stepdaughters, Jane Kucera Thompson (Andrew) and Kay Kucera (Paul Cousar).
