Clifford Walter Preuss' Obituary
Clifford Walter Preuss, known to many simply as “Cliff,” passed away last Wednesday, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, dedication, and love for family, work, and community.
Cliff was a proud graduate of the Case Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and later returned to earn his MBA. His education laid the foundation for a remarkable career in the tool and die industry. Through hard work, intelligence, and perseverance, he rose through the ranks to become President of both Acme Cleveland and Shalco Industries, Inc.—positions that reflected not only his professional skill, but the respect he earned from colleagues throughout his career.
Even after reaching the highest levels of leadership, Cliff never stopped working. He remained active in the industry well into his later years, working in sales for Kingsford Tool and Die Industries until the age of 86—a testament to his work ethic, energy, and passion for what he did.
Above all, Cliff was an outstanding person, a devoted father, and a loving husband. He was married to his beloved late wife, Betty Preuss for 67 years. He is survived by his two children, David Preuss and Lesli Preuss, and his two cherished grandchildren, Deanika Preuss and Chadrick Preuss, who brought him great pride and joy all of whom reside in Los Angeles.
Outside of work, Cliff lived life with enthusiasm. He was a passionate tennis player and bridge player who loved the games as much as the competition. A proud Ohio native, he was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, and—most of all—the Ohio State Buckeyes, whose football games were a constant source of excitement and loyalty.
Clifford Walter Preuss will be remembered for his strength of character, his unwavering commitment to family and work, and the example he set through a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, from 11-11:30am at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 and a service will follow immediately after at 11:30am.
