Colleen Sue Chittick's Obituary
Colleen Sue Chittick, 86, long time resident of Westlake, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Devon Oaks Assisted Living. She was born on September 27, 1937 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late John Vickers “Dick” and Edythe Chittick.
She is survived by her friends and caregivers, Edward Almquist and Kathryn “Kay” Almquist; and by cousins Anna Slagle (with sons Bryan Crouch and Dan Crouch, and grandson Jeremiah James), Joel Crouch, Jeannine McQuiston and cousins in Canada. She is also survived by friends including Joan Jones, Carol Fitzsimmons, Anita Wardrope, Judy McKee, Dale Winkler, Millie Harley, Eileen Schultz, Julie Kiefer, and many others.
Colleen graduated from John Marshall High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She worked first at WKYC TV and then as a realtor for Howard Hanna Realty for many years. She is loved and will be missed.
Colleen was an avid player and fan of golf and attended many golf tournaments, including meeting her golf idol Greg Norman. She was also an active tennis player with friends Joan and Carol. In her youth she skated at the original Winterhurst Ice Rink with friends Anita and Judy, and she competed in ice skating speed races and won some. For years Colleen planted and tended to the “Chittick” flower box on the Hilliard Road divider in front of her home. Colleen was a great lover of cats and cared for many during her life. Her favorite musical performers were Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Guests will gather at 11:15 a.m. at the chapel to line up in procession. A light luncheon and gathering will follow at the home of Ed Almquist, 4308 Magnolia Parkway, Westlake, Ohio for those who wish to attend.
