Collette Angela Krantz's Obituary
Collette Angela Krantz of Wooster, OH passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 7th, 2025 in Elgin, IL. Born August 3rd, 1930 in Wooster, OH, she was the daughter of Clarence and Helen Bresson. She married Raymond Walter Krantz on October 20th, 1956 in Wooster.
Collette is survived by her sister Maurita Grindle of Apple Valley, MN and children Robert (Ijen) Krantz, Katherine Krantz, Jean (David) Dunlap, Mary Krantz, Joseph (Jenny) Krantz and Lawrence (Lesli) Krantz. Grandchildren Alan Krantz, Whitney (Chris) Brandt, Eli (Addie) Kahan, Matthew (Yanbo) Dunlap, Megan Dunlap, Iris Krantz, Lauren Krantz, Jessica Krantz, Emily (Mark) Patton, Jackson Krantz, great-grandchildren Kina Dunlap and Avery Patton, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings (spouses) Lawrence (Anne) Bresson, Richard (Mary Lou) Bresson, Patricia (Jack) Wernet, John (Elnore) Bresson, Thomas Bresson, and brother-in-law John Grindle.
Collette attended St. Mary’s Grade School, Wooster High School, received her RN accreditation at St. Thomas Nursing School, Akron, OH and her B.S. in Healthcare Administration at Ursuline College, Pepper Pike, OH. She spent her career devoted to caring for others and practiced nursing and health care administration for over forty years.
A lifelong devout Catholic she taught religious studies at St. Stephen, West Salem, OH and was wholly committed to service at St. Francis Xavier, Medina, OH, Aquinas Newman Center, Albuquerque, NM and St. Margaret Mary, Algonquin, IL. A dedicated community leader, she served on the Medina County 648 Mental Health Board, Birthcare Medina County, Assistance To Older Adults Cuyahoga County, Friendly Town Cleveland and Berea Food Bank. She was also a Red Cross swimming instructor and a docent at The Cleveland Playhouse.
She cared deeply for all and exemplified the ministry of helping others. She loved God, enjoyed the beauty in nature, and prayed for peace daily. Gifted in the art of conversation, as she was passionate about music, art, and public affairs. A writer of whimsical poetry, she never failed to deliver encouraging words and her cheesecake was legendary. She especially enjoyed visiting and traveling with her children and grand-children.
A Burial Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Sunset Cemetery, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
