Dale A. Wolfe's Obituary
Dale Wolfe was the oldest of three children of Agnes and Ernest Wolfe of Spencer, Ohio. He spent his entire youth in Spencer; working on local farms and playing high school basketball. He graduated from what was then Spencer High School in a class of less than 20 students.
After high school, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army and studied electrical engineering. He also did a 13 month tour of Korea, compliments of the Army as well.
After Dale was honorably discharged from the Army, he was set up on a blind date with a young woman named Barb. She was very smart ( she was in nursing school at the time ) and very pretty. Dale really liked her but she wasn’t too crazy about him at first. But Dale must of grew on her because after a short courtship, the two got married. Dale and Barb got married in the spring of 1967 and their first of two sons was born in the summer of 1968. It was then while working full-time at NASA and moon-lighting at a machine shop, that Dale and Barb bought their first house from Dale’s brother, Larry, in Mallet Creek. About four years later, Steven was born and the house in Mallet Creek became too small. It was then that they bought some property and built a house in Valley City where they lived for the next 17 years.
With his boys growing up, Dale was very active in their lives. Dale became a mentor and a leader in the local boy scout troop for many years where his contributions were endless. He was also stayed a 4-H advisor even long after his sons were no longer in the club. Barb used to always jokingly say that she had three boys instead of two boys and a husband ! Dale did anything he could to be able to teach his boys as much as he could. He was very proud of both of them and all of their accomplishments.
As Douglas and Steven started to grow up, Dale found a new liking … Tractor Pulls !! He belonged to the Medina County Pullers Assoc., the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Assoc. and the National Tractor Pullers Association, all at the same time. Dale just wasn’t a member … he was an official and then later a technical inspector. Dale really loved tractor pulling ! He met alot of great people that came to like and respect him very much.
Dale and Barb were also seasoned travelers of the seas. Cruises were their passion. If it is an island and it is south of Florida, chances are good that they have been there. And Dale knew them all ! Not only did he know the island, but he knew when they were there, what they did or bought and the cruise ship they were on at the time.
Dale was always like that, sharp as a tack and so very smart. Whether it was construction, electrical, mechanical or anything at all if it had to do with numbers, Dale was always our go-to guy !
For those of you who don’t know, Dale was taken from us by the same terrible disease that took his mother and sister earlier in life. Dale has always been strong and the proverbial rock of his family. But after a long, painful and exhausting fight, on the morning of October 28th, God sent his angels to tell Dale to fight no more, be free of all your pain and join him in Heaven.
I love you dad.
Funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM, on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, N. Olmsted. Interment immediately following in Sunset Memorial Park. Dale’s family will receive friends at the Chapel prior to the service, from 12:00 NOON until 2:00 PM.
