Daniel A. Motyka's Obituary
Daniel A. Motyka, age 81, of Elyria, passed away on February 2, 2021. Born in Cleveland to the late Anthony and Phyllis (nee Hillis) Motyka on October 25, 1939. In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, JoAnne, and his brother Jack Motyka.
Dan is the father of Mary Jo Motyka, Julie (Troy) Motyka Coughlin, Gayle (Jeff Kuhn) Motyka, and Penelope (Dave) Johnson; grandfather of Paige and Kelly Jo Coughlin and Carly and Vivian Johnson; friend of many.
Dan was truly Cleveland proud – having enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes his entire life. He was a season ticket holder for many years.
With significant honor and valor, Dan served his country in the United States Navy, his community with the Elyria Fire Department for 23 years, and his family with all the love and support he could ever offer.
A visitation will be held at the Sunset Chapel located 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 12pm until 2pm. A Celebration of Life will begin promptly at 2pm. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park.
