Darnell Carlton Worley's Obituary
Darnell Carlton Worley, 82, of Parma, Ohio entered into God’s kingdom on 24 November 2023. He was born to Wallace Franklin Worley and Betty Elizabeth Tolbert Worley, Sr.
Darnell, the 4th of 10 children was preceded in death by his brothers: William (Eddie) Walton; Wallace Worley; David Worley and sister: Juanita Worley. He is survived by his wife: Betty L. Deemer and former spouse, Mitzi Maria Worley; brothers: Frederick M. Worley; Frank Worley; Amadeus Worley and sisters: Tiawanna Howard; and Betty Worley, Jr.; and children: Joseph Worley; Juanita Jackson; Shelah Lyles (Ken Pernsley); Darnell Worley II (Erika Worley); Candy Beverly (Anthony); Toby Deemer (Krista); Dannella Kender and Josephine Worley and their mother Danna Bryson (Tim); by grandchildren: Larnell Worley; Tory Worley; Aleyah Lyles; Darnell Worley III; Alyssa Worley; James Hockett; Amir Heibl; Tahir Maclin; Magdalen Deemer; Solomon Deemer; Kaiden Kender; Mai’lani Morris; Jaiyanna Turner; and great-grandchildren: Teshawn Worley; Tyree Worley; Sadeonya Worley; Sariyah Worley; Jayden Young; Jakyah Young; and Jaleyah Young.
Darnell served honorably in the U.S. Army earning many commendations and many awards for his service in the regular Army and also in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive and Counteroffensives III, IV, and V. After retiring from the Army, Darnell joined the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department where he had a distinguished career as a Detective, retiring as an officer in the Court System. After retiring from these two distinguished careers, Darnell completed a life-long quest to finish his college degree which he had started early on in his career in Germany by graduating with a Business Degree from Baldwin-Wallace University. He wanted to complete this degree to demonstrate to his family that working hard can accomplish any goal—no matter how long it takes and what life throws one’s way.
A gathering will be held on Thursday, 30 November 2023 from 12-2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park's Westwood Abbey Mausoleum, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where the Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
Directions from the cemetery gate to the mausoleum: Please pull into the gate and drive straight back toward the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum. Due to the construction to the front steps of the mausoleum, please drive to the back and enter from there.
Darnell is missed. “Absent from the Body… present with the Lord…”
