David A. Balcziunas' Obituary
David A. Balcziunas, age 71, died peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Southwest General in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. He was born on June 13, 1947 in Parma to Peter and Lillian (Hnativ) Balcziunas. He was the second oldest of four children. David attended Cleveland State and Ohio State University and served in the US Army, 94th Artillery, stationed in Germany in the 1970s. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Patricia, and spending time with friends and family. He was always busy with a project of some kind and enjoyed being active. He had a love of American history, and was an active member and volunteer with his church. David was a kind and gentle man with an enormous heart—warm, patient, thoughtful, and sweet. He loved a good joke and had a great sense of humor. Always a sparkle in his eyes. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joanne (Valenti), and his brother Mark.
David is survived by his amazing wife of 30 years, Patricia, his brother Peter, his sons Evonn and Jason (Lisa), and his step-daughters Cheryl (Jim) and Margo (Benny). He will also be fondly remembered and loved by his nine grandchildren Milo, Julian, Chase, Makenzie, Anthony (Tiffany), Dominic (Maureen), Michael (Samantha), Mya (Tyler), and Blythe and nine great-grandchildren Shane, Nolan, Laine, Savannah, Sophia, Gracie and Rosie and Bodhi, and Sparrow,.
Family, friends and others whose lives David touched are invited to his memorial on August 11th, 2018 at 11:00am at Columbia United Methodist Church in Columbia Station, to reminisce, grieve, support one another, chat, or laugh (he would appreciate laughter).
Flowers and gifts of condolence should be sent to the church on the day of the memorial.
