David L. Grimes' Obituary
David “Dave” L. Grimes, 75, of Olmsted Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. Born on May 30, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas, Dave was the son of the late William and Eva Grimes.
Dave was the beloved husband of 40 years to Jo (née Stein), with whom he built a life filled with devotion, humor, and steadfast partnership. He was a proud father to Elizabeth (Damon) Maurice, Christine Grimes, Stephanie (Brad) Reichert, Nicole King, Kimberly (Ryan Chaffin) Haley, and Kati Grimes. Grandfather to Ashlyn, Kylie, Lauren, Braden, Averie, Caryn, Samuel, Erin, and Dylan.
He is survived by his siblings Judy Bahr and Doug Ray, and preceded in death by his brother Larry Grimes.
Dave lived a life defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and heart. He loved golf and could often be found tinkering with tools, fixing what needed fixing, or inventing solutions no one else had thought of yet. A true handyman at heart, he took pride in making things work—and making them better. He adored his Yorkies, who were never far from his side, and he had an insatiable love of research, always eager to learn something new or dive deep into a topic that caught his interest.
Dave served proudly in the United States Army, so much so that the US Government choose him to work in the White house as a Communications Specialist under President Nixon/Ford administration, a commitment he carried with honor throughout his life. One of his most meaningful experiences was participating in an Honor Flight in 2023, a moment that deeply touched him and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Dave’s memory.
