Dear Barbara,
We've never met, but I knew Dave. He and I trained and then worked together as VISTA Volunteers, August 1968 - June 1969. We were in a group of six sent to the Flathead Indian Reservation, Montana. Dave was a young man who wanted to make a difference and he did. He had a great sense of humor, compassion and a good and kind nature. I know you know this about him. When I came across his obituary, prayers rose for him and you and your family. I am truly sorry for your loss.
The attached photo is from an obscure book, about VISTA, culled from a school library many years ago that I found on a giveaway table somewhere, maybe Missoula, Montana. The only person facing front, Dave. I'm standing just to the right of Dave's left elbow. Ring Huggins, to the far right, also served with us on the Flathead. It was my reminiscing about that time, 55 years ago, that led me to Dave's obituary. I felt I needed to reach out to you and share that I remember him fondly.
May God be with you and yours.
Peace.
