David Mayer's Obituary
Sergeant David Mayer, age 77 of Parma, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. He was born on January 8, 1949.
David proudly served the City of Cleveland as a Cleveland Police Officer for 40 years. Throughout his distinguished career, he worked in Impact Task Force, Narcotics, and rose through the ranks to become a Sergeant. He was deeply committed to protecting others and was known for his strength, leadership, and unwavering dedication to service.
Above all else, David was a loving, kind, and selfless man, always willing to help anyone in need. His compassion extended far beyond his career and was felt most strongly by his family, whom he loved deeply.
David was the beloved husband of Madeline, devoted father to Thomas and Michelle, and a proud grandfather to Hannah (Savannah), Dana (Anthony), and Joseph (Christina). He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Leilani and Leovanni.
David will be remembered for his integrity, his service, and the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and devotion that will live on through all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation is Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 4-8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Funeral service is Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 10 AM at the chapel.
