David Charles Simo's Obituary
David Charles Simo, 70, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio passed away on August 18, 2021 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on October 18, 1950 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Charles and Betty (nee Martincin). David is a proud veteran of the US Air Force and retired from Western Enterprises in Avon Lake, Ohio. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and served in the music ministry as a guitarist for over 30 years. David was actively involved in the Sheffield Lake community as a youth leader and mentor with Boy Scouts and baseball teams for many years.
He will be fondly remembered as an outdoor enthusiast and found great enjoyment sailing, fishing, cycling, and backpacking. His aptitude for mechanical, carpentry, and labor intensive skills led him to become a master craftsman of the highest caliber. His projects will be enjoyed and cherished by his family for many years to come.
David will be deeply missed by his loving children Kristie (Keith) Martel, Sabrina Whitcomb, Diane (Jay) Younker, and Mark (Courtney) Simo; treasured grandchildren Simone Martel, Ella Whitcomb, and Gavin Martel; beloved fiance Marci Field and her family Douglas, Vitus (Cindy), and Jacqui;faithful canine companion Ollie; dear brothers Donald (Karen) Simo and Michael (Lisa) Simo; and sister-in-law Debbie Simo. He was preceded in death by his wife Chong Cha Simo and brother Charles Simo.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday August 25, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 715 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake, Ohio 44054. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio. The family kindly encourages their guests to wear masks.
