David James Thomson's Obituary
David James Thomson, 76, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on August 24, 2025.
A life long Gordon Square resident, he was born to the late Robert and Esther Thomson (nee Paterson). David graduated from West High in 1967, before working as a McDonald’s manager and with his father at his company R J Thomson Heating. In 1975 David began working at AT&T, holding many roles before retiring in 2023 as a telecommunications specialist.
David was known for his charismatic nature and always had a joke at the ready. David loved to drive, take road trips, and go to the theater with friends. David also enjoyed engaging in many improvement projects to his Gordon Square home. Built by his grandfather, Dr. William Paterson in 1903, David helped maintain a unique piece of local history.
David is survived by his children: Connie (Frank) Gale, Brian Thomson, Shari (Mark) Scudder, Phillip (Katherine) Thomson, Matt (Emily) Thomson, Kellie (Bill) Thomson; his grandchildren: Angela, Amanda, Nora, Oliver, Zoey, and Sarah; and his great grandchild Paisley. He is survived by his siblings Clifford, Shirley, and Linda; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Richard.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday September 11th, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Legacy, 6451 Columbia Road, Olmsted Township, Ohio 44138. A memorial service will be held on Friday September 12th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Legacy, 6451 Columbia Road, Olmsted Township, Ohio 44138.
