Deborah “Debbie” Jo Cotman, 62, born on February 23, 1962, passed away on February 21, 2025, surrounded by her family after a short, sudden illness. Debbie was born to the late Bob and Nancy Davis in Martinsferry, Oh. Debbie lived an impactful life filled with love, fun, and memories.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Joseph; her children, Steven (Vanessa), Matthew (Asya), and Jennifer; and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Josephine, and Benjamin. She is also survived by her siblings, Cindy (late John) McGreevy, Tammy (Dan) Davis, Missy Snider, and Rob Davis; her cousins, Vicki (Bill) Nolte, Tom Gorza, Ed (Heidi) Gorza, and Joe (Deb) Gorza; and her nieces and nephews, Jack and Robert McGreevy, Jessica Falcon, Rachael Hoehne, Brandon and Emma Snider, and Annie Davis. Debbie held a special place in her heart for her family. She adored her grandchildren and spent every possible moment with them making lifelong memories. She also had a passion for traveling with family with her favorite destinations of Disney and Myrtle Beach.
Debbie’s favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved decorating every inch of the house and yard. She had upgraded to two Christmas trees to hold only some of her many Christmas ornaments. Her favorite book was “The Night Before Christmas” and would be read to her family every night during the month of December. She felt that every Christmas was an opportunity to remember all the good times from the year and the years past.
Debbie had a remarkable talent for accounting. She founded her own company and was dedicated to taking care of her clients as if they were family. She had a love for all things math and number related including her favorite saying of “every problem can be solved if it was treated as an algebra problem”.
Debbie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her family, friends, and loved ones will be remembered always.
Debbie always believed that funerals were a time to celebrate the loved one’s life. She requested friends and loved ones to wear colorful clothing and reminisce about great memories. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time especially the critical care staff at Southwest General Hospital who took great care of her.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Association, and your local library.
