Derrick Anthony Maldonado, age 44, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the love of those fortunate enough to know him.
Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Derrick was the beloved son of the late Juanita Maldonado (née Fritz). He grew up with a deep appreciation for family, friendship, and the simple joys that brought people together.
Derrick is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jessica Maldonado (née Varady); his loving sister in laws, Satonya Mencke, Jaclynn Varady (Sam Frey) and Samantha (Dan) Bray (née Eddy); he was a beloved uncle and leaves behind his nephew and godson and his 3 nieces. He also leaves behind his treasured companions, Bailey and Princess Zelda, who brought him endless comfort and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Juanita Mencke; his brother, Ward Mencke; and cherished pets who held a special place in his heart, his cat, Link and his dog, Brutus.
Derrick proudly spent time serving his country in the United States Navy, an experience that remained an important part of his life. He had a passion for professional wrestling, nature, video games, making new friends at the camper and everything that embraced his self-proclaimed nerdy side.
Above all else, Derrick was a devoted family man. He treasured the time spent with loved ones, whether celebrating life's milestones, sharing stories and laughter, or simply being together. His compassion for animals was evident throughout his life, and the many pets he cared for were truly members of his family.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Derrick's memory will live on through the love he shared, the friendships he fostered, and the countless moments of laughter and kindness he gave to others.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
