Dominic J. Dilello, a beloved husband, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1931, Dominic was the cherished son of Dominic and Mary DiLello and the proud brother of eight siblings. His bond with his sisters, Rachelle, Babe and Eleanor, was particularly special, characterized by shared laughter and countless memories. In 1965, he married Sylvia, the love of his life, celebrating 60 beautiful years together and forming an inseparable partnership.
Family was a significant source of joy for Dominic, and he took great pride in being a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A longtime resident of Westlake, Ohio, Dominic spent the last thirty winters in Florida, where he enjoyed the warmth and sunshine.
Serving proudly in the Navy during the Korean War, he developed a profound appreciation for our country’s values and freedoms. This service ignited a lifelong interest in travel and exploration, allowing him to experience the diverse beauty of our nation firsthand. He often reminisced about his cherished boat, the Mary D, with which he explored many beautiful destinations.
Dominic had a passion for travel, with favorite spots including Put-in-Bay, Alaska, Georgian Bay and Italy, where he created lasting memories with family and friends. Fishing trips with his father, brother, and cousins in his early years were some of his most treasured moments, reflecting the strong family ties he upheld throughout his life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice group for their exceptional care and support during Dominic’s final month.
A memorial service to celebrate Dominic’s remarkable life will be held on February 17, 2026, 10:30 am at Sunset Memorial Park in the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his legacy and the joy he brought to so many.
