Donald L. Barnes' Obituary
Donald L. Barnes, age 83 of Olmsted Twp., passed away January 24, 2021. He was the devoted husband of 62 years to Mary Ellen (nee Sandercock); the loving father of Donald Jr. (Charlene), Henry (Bernadette), Charlene (Mike) Bias, Nelson (Lenna), Alyce (Jerry) Scott and Michelle (Tom) Stout; cherished grandfather of 19; great grandfather of 24; great great grandfather of 2; the dear brother of Katie, Joey, Betty, Martha and Florence; the adored uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Phyllis, Dorothy, Marion and Alice.
Don was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a past commander of the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871. He was a truck driver for 30 years for River Recycling. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, his family, his two dogs Kahlua and Chase, and being at his camper. He had a passion for adventure and technology. He was always planning the next family trip and had to have the newest and latest gadgets. He loved to tell jokes, even if they weren’t very funny, he was determined to make everyone laugh. He had an incredible voracity for life.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 4-7 PM in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted; where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
