Donald H. Knapp's Obituary
Donald H. Knapp, age 78, of Olmsted Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Born in Lakewood, Ohio, Don was the son of the late James and Hazel Knapp.
Don was the beloved husband of 39 years to Gerry (née Glazer), with whom he built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship. He was a proud and loving father to his son Brian (Rachel) Knapp, and a caring stepfather to JB (Natalie) Ritchie and Chad Ritchie. Don’s joy multiplied with each grandchild who entered his life: Brian Knapp Jr., Samuel Knapp, Brodie Ritchie, Benji Ritchie, Addisyn Ritchie, and Madelyn Ritchie. He is also survived by his brother, Dan Knapp.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen, whom he held close in memory.
Don enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life rich—quiet mornings spent fishing, cheering on anything and everything related to Cleveland sports, and sharing his gentle spirit with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was widely known as one of the sweetest, kindest, and most genuinely good-hearted people one could ever meet. His warmth, patience, and easy smile left a lasting imprint on all who crossed his path.
Don was a proud United States Army veteran, carrying his service with quiet dignity throughout his life.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather to honor his memory and the love he so freely gave.
