Donald Scott "Mitch" Mitchell's Obituary
Donald Scott Mitchell, 77, affectionately known as “Mitch”, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025 at Fairview Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on August 25, 1947 to the late Thomas and Margaret Mitchell.
Mitch is survived by his children, Carey (Larry) Schram and Adam Mitchell; grandchildren Addison and Carter Schram and sister, Merle Madden.
He was a proud 1966 graduate of Fairview Park High School and worked for many years in the graphic arts division at the former Sherwin- Williams plant in North Olmsted. He also worked for Country Club Condominiums in maintenance for 20 years. Mitch enjoyed doing odd jobs with friends when asked.
Mitch was a dedicated member of the American Legion Clifton Post 421, where he served as the landscaper for over 30 years, and loved his Legion family. He was also involved with the VFW Post 9871 Auxiliary in North Ridgeville.
A huge fan of all Cleveland sports teams and THE Ohio State Buckeyes, Mitch remained loyal though all the tough seasons, noting there is “always next year”. When he was not cheering on the Browns, Cavs or Guardians, he was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Mitch was also formerly a coach for youth football and baseball, which he loved doing. For many years he was also involved in bowling and softball leagues.
A celebration of life for Mitch will take place on Monday, February 17th from 4-8pm, with a memorial service at 6pm, at the American Legion Clifton Post at 22001 Brookpark Road, Fairview Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the American Legion Clifton Post 421, 22001 Brookpark Road, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
