Donald Lee Neuzil's Obituary
Donald Lee Neuzil, 91 years, entered heaven, January 9, 2021. Loving husband of 67 years to Jeanette; father of Kathy (Mark) Kostur, Kenneth (Louann), James (Carol), and David (Pamela); grandfather of Michael, Andrea, Matthew, Jordan, Amanda, and Jimmy; proud great-grandfather of 15; brother of Dorothy Jones, the late Betty Pray, and Marilyn Fuller; and an uncle of many. Veteran of the United States Army. Donald was a printer by trade. He worked at Cleveland Western Press as an apprentice and continued as a typesetter and proofreader. His proofreading skills were quite accomplished and appreciated later on when he worked at Quasar Typesetting and then Oak Printing until his retirement in 1995. Don was involved in Boy Scout Troop 89, Puritas Lutheran Church where he served as a committee member and enjoyed the time with his sons as they earned their Eagle Scout Award.
His dream of owning a family ice cream store was realized in 1976 with the purchase of a Dairy Queen store. Don and Jean’s enthusiasm grew into a family business. Within a few years, a second store was added, then a third and a fourth. Don’s dream of a family ice cream store has grown to include third generation grandchildren continuing the family business.
Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins and stamps until his sons got him more involved with Lionel trains. Having toy trains as a youngster, his enthusiasm soon flourished for this “new” found hobby. Family members enjoyed his train display and operating layout. Don’s layout and collection of Lionel trains and accessories became well known among the local Train Collectors Association members. Don’s love of trains continues on to his great-grandchildren. He frequently participated in charity golf events. Don’s favorite times were Family fun, playing cards, dice games, Bocce ball, family fishing off the deck, picnics, watching the great grandkids play, and CLE Indians and Browns game parties. Don was a member of the Strongsville Optimus Club where he met many friends and participated in fundraising events for Ohio Boys Town, Berea, Ohio. Don was a kind, generous man, he will be missed. We are thankful for his life and love. He is now with the Lord. Until we meet again. During this difficult time, please be with the family in prayer and reflection as they privately lay Don to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please pay it forward with an act of kindness/generosity in Don’s memory. Online condolences and memories may be left for Don on his memorial page at sunsetfuneralandcemetery.com
