Donald G. "Don" Strauss' Obituary
Donald G. Strauss, “Don” 88, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020.
Devoted husband of 55 years to Elizabeth Strauss, he is survived by his daughter Kimberly Ann Bracewell (Charles), Marjorie Strauss, and son Ronald (Jane) Strauss; grandchildren Emily and Ethan Bracewell, nephews Wayne (Colleen) Dawson, Dale Dawson, and niece Joan (Ray) Lovett.
Don was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and while was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. He became an Electrical Engineer with a degree from Case Western Reserve College. He served in the army during the Korean War. He had a long and distinguished career with CEI (Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co.) Don attended Christ the King Lutheran Church, and through the church, he found he could help people prepare their taxes. After that, he began to volunteer with AARP and ended up being involved for over 20 years.
Among Don’s interests were golf, bowling, bridge, and keeping his “math” mind occupied with crossword and jigsaw puzzles. A kind soul, he was a favorite of the staff at Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
