Dorothy "Dottie" L. Meyers' Obituary
Dorothy L Meyers (nee Karp) passed away peacefully with family members at her side on September 23, 2025, in Medina, Ohio.
Dorothy was born in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Victorine, Karp, and lived her entire life in the Cleveland area. Her relentless work ethic and perseverance are evidenced in her career journey that spanned over 65 years and in the entrepreneurial spirit of her children, the grit of her grandchildren, the pursuits of her great grandchildren and the dreams being made by her great-great grandchildren.
A lively personality with strong communication skills, quick wit and a passion for fashion, Dottie was quick to strike up a conversation, an active member of the Red Hat club, an animated storyteller and always dressed to be remembered. Dottie truly shined brightest in the care of her animals. Whether dogs, cats, birds or any other species that needed mending, Dottie's pets were always super well-behaved and spoiled rotten - scrambled eggs for breakfast, pork chops from the side of her plate at dinner and conversation abundant.
Dottie loved her family, her friends, the time as the receptionist at the Normandy Manor, the patients and the Drs she served as a receptionist in a private practice and her neighbors. Despite almost 98 years of age, she remained sharp as tack until her last moment and reminded all that no matter what life brings to always shine.
She leaves behind her children, daughter, Donna Tagliaferro, sons Dennis, Donald Jr., daughter Denise (Michael) Galloway, son Douglas (Jacqueline), daughter-in-law Mary and her sister Margaret.
Dorothy was preceded by her parents George and Victorine, her son Duane, son-in-law Donald Tagliaferro, her grandson Brad Russell, her granddaughter Patricia Meyers, her great-grandson Joshua Majercak, her brother Ronald (wife Patty), her partner in life Marty Matus and his brother Ritchie, for whom she took on the role as his caretaker in his later years due to his disabilities.
Visitation will be Monday 9/29/25 from 10AM to Noon with a service to follow at Noon at Sunset Memorial Chapel at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
