Dorothy Ann Planisek's Obituary
Dorothy was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, to parents Andrew K. and Katherine S. Nagay; her father was a Lakewood police detective. Dorothy graduated from Lakewood High School in 1948 and became a nurse’s aide at Southwest General Hospital for many years until her retirement. In 1952 Dorothy married her neighborhood sweetheart, Joseph C. Planisek, and they remained happily married for 69 years until her husband’s death in 2021 at the age of 94. Fond of travel, camping, and the great outdoors, the couple spent many happy vacations exploring North America from the Rocky Mountains to the Maritime Provinces; they were especially happy in the Florida Keys, where they had a winter home. A dog lover, Dorothy doted on her beloved beagle, yorkie, and terrier canine companions. She leaves behind her twin-sister Lilybeth Teske of Bay Village, Ohio, her niece Karen Suvada of Phoenix, Arizona, her nephew Kurt Teske of Yonkers, New York, and many relatives in the U.S. and in Europe. She is preceded in death by her siblings Rosemary Beekman and Theodore Nagay. Services will be private, and per Dorothy’s request, in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League. Online condolences and memories may be left on Dorothy’s memorial page at sunsetfuneralandcemetery.com.
