Edward Laird Balas' Obituary
Edward Laird Balas, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. Born on February 1, 1933, Edward was the beloved son of the late Margaret and Edward J. Balas.
Edward was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Leona Balas, with whom he shared many years of companionship and joy. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world. He was a proud father to Jodi (Jeffry) Stover, Lisa Balas, Gary (Kim) Balas, and Sandra (the late David) Rosenblum. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Sarah Rosenblum, Ryan (Lisa) Stover, and Katie Stover, and his three great-grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness in his later years. He is survived by his brother, Robert Balas, and was preceded in death by his sister, Claire Balas.
Edward’s family and friends will remember him for his kindness, his steady presence, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him. A life well-lived, Edward leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family bonds that will endure for generations.
Visitation is Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 4-6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Funeral Mass is Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 10 AM at St. Clarence Church, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio or Friendship Animal Protective League in Elyria, Ohio.
