Edward L Langer's Obituary
Edward L. “Ed” Langer Jr., 80, died peacefully at his home in North Ridgeville, Friday November 11, 2016. Prior to relocating to North Ridgeville in 2007, he and his wife, Carol of 37 years, resided for many years in Geauga County.
He was born in E. Cleveland and enjoyed his early years in Euclid and later in Lake County. He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, B.S. and M.A. degrees from John Carroll and Kent State University.
He was a teacher, coach and administrator at St. Joseph’s High, Euclid High, John Carroll and Kent State University, before he began a 30-year career at ASM International (American Society for Metals), the last 12 years with ASM as CEO.
He provided volunteer leadership to numerous civic and professional organizations including the Greater Cleveland Convention & visitors Bureau, American Society of Association Executives, and The Council of Engineering & Scientific Society Executives.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol; children, Dennis Langer of Willowick, Edward (Deb) Langer of Chesterland, Michael (Sherry) Langer of Mentor, Thomas (Deanna) Langer of Concord, Michelle (Larry) Scott of Coshocton, Tami (Dan) Mecone of Streetsboro, and Troy (Heather) Service of Middleburg Heights, as well as 12 grandchildren, three great-grandsons, and a sister Barbara Carmichael of Willoughby.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10AM until time of service at 12NOON in the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, 44070.
