Edward "Ted" Jay Schmidt's Obituary
Edward “Ted” Jay Schmidt, 83, of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Though Ted’s resilience carried him through a 45-year-long fight with cancer, his passing was caused by complications from an infection.
Born on November 18, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, Ted was the son of the late Robert and Jane Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elaine Schmidt, who passed in 1997.
Ted is survived by his children, Bobby (Kelly) Schmidt and Kim (Gary) Balas; his brothers, Tod (Virginia) Schmidt and Paul Schmidt; and his long-time companion and friend, Flo. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory and the love he shared.
Ted lived life to the fullest—full throttle – earning him the nickname “Turbo.” A lifetime master technician, he dedicated his career to working on countless vehicles, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew his skill and passion. He was also a devoted motorcycle enthusiast, finding joy and freedom on the open road.
Ted’s legacy is one of generosity and loyalty. He was always there to lend a hand, no matter the circumstance, embodying the true spirit of friendship and community. His strength, humor, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with inurnment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park (Fountain of Memories). Fellowship to follow services at the Sunset Chapel.
