Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Johnson's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Johnson, 87, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. She was born on December 5, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Elizabeth (Yurick) Hughes. She attended Ascension Elementary School and graduated from John Marshall High School.
Betty met the love of her life, Milan “Miles” Johnson, in Cleveland, and they married on September 10, 1960. Their enduring partnership spanned nearly 65 years, filled with shared journeys, laughter, and love. Together, they enjoyed their family immensely. Sons, Miles (wife Alysia) and Dean, and grandchildren, Cooper and Hope, who all carry forward her love for family & friends.
Betty is survived by her sister, Geraldine (William) Lebus, and brothers, Joseph (Roberta) Hughes, and David Hughes. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Miles, brother, William Hughes and sister, Jacqueline Vanuch.
When her sons, Miles and Dean, were young, Betty was an involved mom as a Cub Scout leader, school volunteer, and all-around cheerleader of their sports and various endeavors. Her two grandchildren were her treasures. Betty enjoyed several careers from retail customer service with Payless Drug Store to starting and managing two of her own companies - Betty's Baskets and Fernhill Enterprises. Both of her companies supported her immense passion for flower decoration along with connecting with people around the world to learn and teach many different and unique styles of plants, vases and arrangements.
Betty was an avid cook and entertainer. Especially during the holidays, she loved to make cookies and carry-on special recipes from her family. Traveling was another passion. Together Betty and Miles visited over 20 countries, cruised across many oceans, and made several USA cross-country road trips with their sons.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, acceptance, and support for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
