Elizabeth Borosdy, 84, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024. Born on January 17, 1940, in Hungary to the late Louis and Susan (Fulep) Mod. Elizabeth immigrated to the United States in 1951, where she built a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication.
Elizabeth is survived by her siblings, Suzanne (Siggi) Carl and John (Martha) Mod; her niece and nephews, Miklos (Patty) Mod, Judith Mod, and Trevor (Diosa) Carl; and her great-nieces and great-nephew, Alexis, Anthony, Alex, and Cassie. She is also survived by her beloved pet, Benjy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Borosdy, with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage; her siblings, Louis Mod, Joseph Mod, and Istvan Mod; and her cherished pets, Rustie and Stormy.
Elizabeth had a diverse and accomplished career, including roles as Manager of Worthington Service Corporation’s Compressor Assembly Shop and later as an Escrow Officer for Continental Title Agency. She was also a dedicated troop leader for Hungarian Girl Scout Troop #34, where she guided and mentored 125 girls aged 4 to 20 years old. Her passion for her heritage was evident in her many years of dancing with the Hungarian Folk Ensemble.
An avid traveler, Elizabeth explored the USA and numerous foreign countries, including Hungary, Germany, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Holland, England, Spain, Canada, and Greece. In her leisure time, she enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and sewing, often creating beautiful dance costumes for her girls and herself. Elizabeth also loved skiing, camping, hiking, biking, and flying, having obtained her spousal certification to land an airplane in case of an emergency.
Elizabeth’s life was a testament to her vibrant spirit, love for her family, and dedication to her community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Keeping with her wishes, Elizabeth will be cremated and privately laid to rest in a niche with her late husband at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio.
